Personal Story
|
My name is Mary Terry, I am 45 years old, married with two
grown daughters and twin grandchildren, who, by the way, are the love of my
life.
I was on prednisone for 22 years off and on for
allergies and when I was finally weaned off them I found out I was still
sick. My primary care doctor would run a test now and then and finally said
you must have FMS. I am currently going through a sleep study but other
than the doctor telling me I needed to go to level 4 sleep, nothing else
has been done for 8 months.
Finally I came across a doctor who had fibromyalgia and
was in remission. I had been researching mycoplasma infections and this
doctor believed in testing and treating with antibiotics. After my first
appointment I learned that I didn't have fibromyalgia but hypothyroidism
and CFIDS. I am currently being treated with Armour Thyroid and waiting
until December and all my tests are back. The thyroid has helped quite a
bit.

Interests
|
The hardest thing for me to accept about my disease was
the one gift God gave me – that was my mind. As we all know, with the
disease the mind is greatly affected. I have learned to compensate and hang
on with a positive attitude until things change. My interests are reading,
researching, bingo, spiritual growth, and being with my family. I can't say
I haven't learned anything from these diseases, because I think it takes
great courage, patience, and compassion.
