Dr. Cheney's May 1999 Seminar
275 Attend Cheney Seminar
On May 15 thirty-five medical professionals attended the luncheon with Dr. Cheney, and a much larger crowd than expected filled the room to overflowing for the seminar. Those attending donated over $700 to Dr. Cheney for an honorarium, and almost $100 to the support group. In a truly generous move, Dr. Cheney accepted the honorarium and then donated it to our group! His contribution covered his airfare and our publicity for the event, with about a hundred and fifty dollars left over. The publicity surrounding the seminar resulted in over 100 new people being added to our mailing list, bringing it to almost 500.
Many thanks to Dr. Cheney for devoting a weekend to us and accepting no honorarium. Thanks to Harris Methodist HEB Hospital, especially Community Relations Manager Cindy Wright, for providing Dr. Cheney's hotel suite. Many thanks to the City of Irving, especially Public Health Educator Carole Lawrence, for providing the room arrangements, catered luncheon, snacks and water, publicity, information packets, cable TV coverage, and the engraved crystal boot presented to Dr. Cheney.
