I am writing to inform you of the status of The Cheney Clinic and its related supplement business. As you are now aware, The Cheney Clinic has closed as I am currently on medical leave. As you also may be aware, I have struggled with idiopathic cardiomyopathy for a couple of years and received a heart transplant in October of this year. I am currently making good progress. However, I am on immunosuppressant drugs to reduce the risk of rejection of my new heart. This complicates the decision of reopening The Cheney Clinic regardless of my functional status. CFS being my life’s work, I very much want to remain active in the field of CFS, especially clinical research. The supplement business formerly operated within The Cheney Clinic has been purchased by CFS Nutriceuticals. Their telephones will have an answering machine and fax number; return calls will be made in the afternoon. CFS Nutriceuticals is a new company that will only handle supplements and an audio CD on CFS on which I am currently working. The company will not be able to answer any personal medical questions regarding CFS. However, I will be actively involved in making recommendations to CFS Nutriceuticals regarding supplements. This is the only supplement business that I will be consulting with. Changes over time in supplement recommendations should be anticipated, as this is a very dynamic field. As my health allows, I will be actively involved in the field of CFS including clinical research, supplement consultation with CFS Nutriceuticals and consulting with CFS Nutriceuticals in producing a CD audio set. The CD audio set will cover a number of topics in the field of CFS. These will include the definition and diagnosis of CFS, treatment, disability issues, and new horizons. CFS Nutriceuticals will produce the audio CD and it will be available from them in the near future. CFS Nutriceuticals also has a website (cfsnutriceuticals.com) which will be fully operational, hopefully, by the first of the year. An information page will appear within weeks. Supplement orders and the audio CD set mentioned above eventually could be purchased on the website. Within the website you will also be able to ask questions from which I will choose to post answers from selected questions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the cards, prayers, and well wishes for my return to good health. This has been a source of strength for me at a time when I really needed it. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with me and allowing me to participate in your return to good health. You will be remembered for the rest of my life.
