Did you know the average American consumes 3 cups of refined sugars each day? A can of soda has 10 teaspoons alone! It is also hidden in many foods such as soups, canned fruits and vegetables, bread, peanut butter, mayonnaise, ketchup, salad dressings, pickles, salt and even baby food! Sugars are hidden on the labels in the form of sucrose, maltose, lactose, dextrose, dextrin, fructose, glucose, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup and many more.
Sugar can provide an immediate source of energy. However, it has many negative health consequences.
"What type of health consequences?":
- Cancer cells feed on sugar. Breast, Ovarian, Colon, Prostate and all other cancers thrive on sugar.
- Causes premature aging by the loss of tissue elasticity.
- Interferes with the ability to process fat and cholesterol, increasing the risk of hypertension and heart disease and strokes.
- Sugar absorbs quickly in the blood stream. The pancreas will soon tire after having to secrete large amounts of insulin, leading to diabetes.
- Sugar causes the body to be over acid. This will pull calcium and other minerals from the bones contributing to osteoporosis.
- Sugar weakens the immune system.
- Sugar can cause candida, an overgrowth of yeast and fungus.
- Sugar causes food allergies.
- Sugar will elevate harmful LDL cholesterol and lower helpful HDL Cholesterol.
